Project Outcomes

After completing the construction of our vehicle, we intend to enter it in autocross competitions. We will also exhibit the vehicle in car shows in the Southern California area including the UCI Performance Engineering Energy Invitational to publicize Foothill High School engineering, the project, and our sponsors.

General Structure

We are planning to build a 1929 Ford Model A roadster. Currently, we are looking to acquire independent front suspension and parallel 4-bar link rear suspension from Total Cost Involved. We are also investigating options for brakes, wheels, tires and steering. We have an original body, a new steel frame, and a 2007 Mustang V6 engine and automatic transmission.

General Timeline

We are currently in the process of finalizing decisions listed above, and have started prepping the frame for new front and rear components. Our goal is to complete construction of the vehicle during Spring 2014, allowing us to enter autocross competitions, car shows, and otherwise use and publicize our project after completion. The vehicle will be shown and compete in the UCI Performance Engineering Energy Invitational.

Funding/Budget

Our team has secured $10,000 from two grants. $5000 was donated by Project Lead The Way/Sunpower, and another $5000 from Green Power Academy Grant. We are continuing to seek additional fundraising opportunities, donations and sponsors. All donations including funds and equipment are welcome. See "Donors" page to donate!

Registration Guidelines

To register our completed hot-rod, we will use the title and registration from our original 1929 donor car. The car that we purchased had a title and a license plate, which we will use for our finished project.
